A little gem!

This book is a little gem. I read it cover to cover in one sitting and made notes along the way. Inspired by Machel Shull's years of experience as a face model and her journey to discover (and embrace) the undeniable connection between inner and outer beauty, it's a must-read for women of all ages. Buy a copy for yourself and one for your best friend, too; it's a wonderful gift. Highly recommended.

A Beauty Bible for Everywoman

Middle Age Beauty is a valuable beauty bible for women of all ages. Holistic in nature, it is concerned with the care of body, mind and soul, as the author firmly places the emphasis on the cultivation of inner beauty before all else. Written in an engaging conversational tone, Machel Schull is like a big sister whispering her cherished beauty secrets, while offering down to earth advice in the most honest and direct manner.
Early in the book, Ms. Schull presents a winning argument for the reasons a woman should never lie about her age, backed up by an interview with Dr. Tess Hightower. The aging process and women's attitude to it, is naturally the central focus of the book.
One of my favorite quotes is from Chapter 9, which deals with positive thinking: "When you struggle against reality you cause inner turmoil to your soul".
This phrase resonates with me as I have personally learned that acceptance is the first step to addressing any issues that arise in our lives.
Meditation, the benefits and how to do it are all explained in very simple terms. An interview with Zen Master Michiko Rolek provides further encouragement and helps demystify `mindful breathing'.
There is also a lot of fun in this book, as the author throws cold water on the hype fed to women by society and the beauty industry.
This is a lovely girly book that is also gutsy and full of cheer. In fact I would recommend it to anyone in need of a good boost to their self esteem. Definitely a winner!

I am both a nerd and artist, needing all the beauty help I can get. Machel's lovely book was heaven sent. The 3 things that stand out for me; 1) Girl friend therapy, (have more fun) 2) working up to taking once a year swimsuit pic 3) awesome health tips like get B shots and drink apple cider, and so much more.

It may be historical fact but it does seem strange that an 18 year old boy who was more student and reader of philosophy should suddenly become interested in taking over the seat of power in Rome. Even more so that politicians and armies would rise up to support him. Even after reading, it becomes not too clear of how that all came about. Certainly Decimus, who was a general of his legions, could challenge Antony and his legions to battle. But young Octavius travels to Rome and soon has an army himself based on paying the soldiers large wages and getting political support. I wonder how Octavius got all the money to do that? It was said that he borrowed a lot but I saw no collateral that he could offer the money lenders as security. Anthony had confiscated Caesar's treasury and estates before Octavius could get possession. That may not all be clear although history will bear out that it happened.

There is good battle action and descriptions in this novel. One can also get a look at the political machinations that were taking place and the plots and sub plots of the various politicians including Cicero. The book would drag at times as the characters engaged in pages of introspection and philosophical rhetoric. The love life of Octavius' friend Agrippina also started to become rather tedious and cliche. This was an okay read but not up to the level of the first book in the series.

Like the other books by Robert Lubrican, this one is humorous and sexy. I enjoy the twists and turns in his works and his inclusion of the Maori culture, one I know fairly well, speaks the truth in this book.

It a quick and delightful read. You will enjoy it.

Summarized, You will travel back into the well detailed exciting life of YWAM Missionary John Stier. He will start you off with how he was raised and the many stuggles he had to go through leading up to meeting his lovely Hawaiian Wife. Against all odds they were called into a country to raise up other missionaries. The stuggles were not only real, but you will begin to see God revealed in a pattern sort of way, teaching John Stier to figure out the ultimate questions you may have been asking yourself. When I started off reading this book I became depressed hearing all the struggles John had gone through. But closer to the end I started seeing this pattern that God had taken John on. This was closely related to my own life. Then the answer came and it all made sense. You hear these sermons you read these books. But are you really ready for God to bless you? Are you really ready to discipline yourself when you find out the answers to your questions? I guess will see.

This book shows how God can work through you, if you just let Him and put your faith on Him. Probably the best book I've ever read. Jim Stier went through alot of difficulties, but God was always there. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The author is a missionary, who goes through great difficulties. The book begins with numerous Christian leaders warning
the author not to be a missionary in Brazil, but God eventually brings him success there.
